This work by Wabyanko is inspired by the work of two artists: the sad girl painted at the Bataclan Paris by street artist Banksy, as well as Francis Renaud's sculpture La Douleur monument in the city of Tréguier in Brittany.
Wabyanko's new interpretation of the sad girl, elevates the emotion of pain felt beyond simple sadness, the posture inspired by the sculpture cited evokes the pain that breaks bodies and tears the heart.

In this work, I sought to capture the duality of the human experience — the poignant solitude and a spark of hope, represented by the star. Using acrylic, my figurative style contrasted by elements of pop art highlights this scarlet silhouette shrouded in mystery against the abysmal darkness. This piece invites reflection and embodies an ongoing dialogue between despair and hope, adding a unique depth and contemplative energy to any living space.
